| Becoming a senior citizen is highly over-rated, in my humble opinion. Everything aches and no one listens to you anymore. Life becomes a blur of red tape, with forms for this and surveys for that. Help is needed many times just to navigate through the maze. Hopefully, the Senior Resources below can help provide you with access to information, programs and services and will lessen the confusion. |
| There are a few resources, subsidies and aid programs that do not have good quality control. Customer service can range from uncaring to untrained. Knowing what agencies and resources are truly of service is difficult sometimes. In Texas, dialing 211 is the best place to start when you need help. However, they don't always have up-to-date information and trying to get help can be a frustrating process for seniors. You may have to call them back several times before you are pointed in the right direction. Unfortunately, a lack of funding has placed many programs and services on hold and assistance is not currently available or has so many strings attached that it becomes undesirable. |
